Barcelona, located in north-eastern Spain, on the shores of the Mediterranean and at 120 km to the south of the Pyrenees mountains. It is the economic, cultural and administrative capital of Catalonia, it is a cosmopolitan and dynamic city full of life and varied culture.
It is one of the main European cities and the centre of a vast metropolitan region of more than 160 towns and with a population of more than 4.8 million people (1.6 million living in Barcelona city).
With a Mediterranean climate, temperatures are warm in summer (between 25 ºC and 35 ºC) and mild during winter (rarely below 0 °C), without strong variations between the highest and the lowest temperatures.
